FAQ
My subtitles are ahead of the audio. Do I shift plus or minus?
If subtitles appear too early, shift them later (positive offset). If they appear after the line is spoken, shift them earlier (negative offset).
How do I find the right offset?
Find one clearly identifiable line, note when it appears versus when it is spoken, and use the difference in seconds. One correction usually fixes the whole file unless the frame rate differs.
What if the drift gets worse over time?
Progressive drift means a frame-rate mismatch (for example, 23.976 vs 25 fps), not a constant offset — a plain shift will not fix it. A tool like Subtitle Edit can re-time by frame rate.
